If you're looking for the perfect way to start your weekend plans, then look no further. Who can say no to brunch? My friends and I sure cannot. One thing about us, we gone eat! So me & one of my brunch buddies, Brittany, decided to try out The Great Commoner for the first time on a whim. We'd never heard of it before, but all it takes is a Google search, and then bam: a plethora of brunch options at your doorstep.

The ambiance was very inviting. The scene gave off a light & airy atmosphere. This would be a great place to visit when you want to catch up with a friend, or work solo in a charming little corner booth. There was an exquisite balance between modern architecture, and just enough greenery to put your mind at ease. All in all, the aesthetic is something anyone can find peace in while enjoying their meal.

While we had nothing but raving reviews for the food, I must warn you that... there are no alcoholic beverages. AKA Mimosas. There are no mimosas.

I know, I know, BUT hear me out! The food and coffee made up for it. Even the ice in the water had dazzling qualities about it. You're still probably thinking, "why did you go if there are no mimosas?" Well part of me hoped they were hiding their secret champagne selection in the back, but in all seriousness, the menu options were enough to trade in my bubbly for a cappuccino.

"Our menu is an experiment in how fresh ingredients playfully dance on the modern palette in a boutique setting" - The Great Commoner

Just a few of their brunch options worth mentioning include the brown butter pancakes, the B.B. egg and cheese, and the savory shrimp & grits. It's the brown butter pancakes for me. They're topped with a blueberry compote and burnt cinnamon whipped cream. I didn't even get the pancakes, and I dream of them.

I ended up ordering the Steak & Eggs. A classic duo including a 7 oz. NY strip, garlic confit, chimichurri, blistered tomatoes, and scrambled eggs. Their "common potatoes" come on the side, and let me tell you, honey. The potatoes were anything but common. I have never had such crispy and seasoned breakfast potatoes. While we are on the topic of seasoned... the STEAK? Goodness gracious. Delectable. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe it so much so, that I ate the entire entree in one sitting. If you know me personally, you know I am the to-go box queen.

Shrimp + Grits

We didn't get to try any of the pastries, but it's definitely safe to say I'll be going back for another round in the near future. I've got to try those brown butter pancakes! This is going in the books under 5 out of 5 stars for me. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
