Who Am I?

Being born & raised in Detroit, MI in 1996 by two incredibly hardworking parents has naturally caused me to have a passion for many different facets throughout my life so far. I grew up in households that cherished music of all kinds ranging from R&B and Soul, Hip-Hop, Rap, Singer-Songwriter, Gospel, Reggae, Jazz, Latin, Motown, House Music, Pop... need I go on? I loved participating in talent shows at a young age, showcasing the performances I would come up with my sister and cousins. This eventually transformed into my love of making playlists and sharing them with my friends, so much so that they now call me DJ Jas. I'm excited to share one of my favorite hobbies with y'all down the line!

It could be argued that my first dream job at the age of 10 was to become a chef, although I specifically remember it being a "Chemist Chef" because I also wanted to create makeup. My passion for food started at an early age of helping out in the kitchen and watching cooking shows on Food Network (if you couldn't tell by now, my grandma was my babysitter, because what 8-year-old is obsessed with the Food Network? 😂❤️). Even though I was a great helping hand in the kitchen, my true interest didn't really take off until I moved off of Central Michigan University's campus during my Junior year of college. Not by choice, but by force of not being able to swipe into the RFOC anymore (if you know, you know). After multiple positive reviews from my roommates about my dishes, I knew the talent was real and not just in my head. This encouraged me to really lean into my love for being in the kitchen.

Lastly, travel. I love to travel, but I don't do it as much as I would like to. I definitely have plans to use my blog as the blueprint for more travel. Ironically, I did more international traveling while in college vs. post-college. I've been to places like Cuba, Costa Rica, & the Grand Caymans. I guess we could consider Canada, but since I am from Detroit that just may be the shortest international road trip in the world. As far as domestic traveling, I've been to cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Scottsdale, Norfolk, Miami, Nashville, and Vegas! Stay tuned for my next adventure!
